You may not believe it but happiness is your natural state and it’s infectious. Think about how you feel when you’re out and about and a stranger smiles at you, does it make you feel good? You don’t need anything in order to be happy, but there are things that can prevent your true happiness from shining through and this 30 Day Happiness Challenge will help.

Most of us develop bad habits that block the experience of happiness. Toxic thoughts can easily creep into your head by simply watching the news or reading posts on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or other social media. To create happiness especially with the law of attraction you need to project a happy vibration. With a little bit of work, you can reprogram yourself to eliminate many of those little things that limit your true happiness. Small daily actions can make a big difference in your mindset.

Can you actually train yourself to be happier in just 30 days? Let’s find out!

Try these strategies:

Keep a gratitude diary

Each day for the next 30 days, list 10 things that make you feel grateful. The challenging part is that each day must have 10 unique items! No repeats.

Try to write it up in your personal diary or journal early in the day. You’ll find that it puts you in a great frame of mind for the rest of the day.

Visualize

Spend 10 minutes each day, visualizing your ideal future. Many people are unhappy with their lot in life, but don’t know what they really want so it never changes.

It’s nice to have some quality time and have something pleasant to look forward to. So, enjoy your few minutes visualizing what you want your life to be.

Be reasonable. You might dream of being 6-inches taller and marrying your favorite actor, but try and be realistic. Shoot for something that’s appealing but within the realm of possibility.

Set a Goal

Set a small goal that can be accomplished in 30 days and spend at least 10 minutes each day working toward it.

You’re going to do something that’s meaningful to you and work towards that goal each and every day. You can’t imagine how happy you’ll feel when you actually do something towards realising that goal even if it’s only a small thing.

A few examples include:

  • Losing 10 pounds eating healthy foods.
  • Redoing all of your landscaping.
  • Cleaning out the basement.
  • Writing 15 pages for your book.
  • Meditating each day for 30 days.

Compliment Someone

Give at least two compliments each day. Give one to yourself and one to another person. If you want to, feel free to give more. You’ll feel good about yourself for making someone else feel good. And you’ll be making yourself feel good, too, in the process.

Deal with negative thoughts

Catch and stop all negative thoughts. Has lingering on your negative thoughts ever helped you? Of course not. Catch yourself when you’re dwelling on a negative thought and think about happy moments instead.

It helps to have the tools at hand so that when you become aware of becoming down in the dumps or getting a bit stressed at situations then you can use these tools as an interrupter.

An example of what I mean is things that you have that put a smile on your face like photographs. Pictures of your children, your wedding photos or your pets. Maybe some holiday snaps, they can all bring your mind back to pleasant memories that will help you appreciate what you have.

You can also try positive affirmations. They’re usually short and easy to remember and you can say them to yourself or out loud. You can also take your favourites and record yourself speaking them while playing your favourite music. Keep it on your phone for easy access.

Music is another great tool to make you feel good as it can always be sure to evoke an emotional response. Find some tracks that make you feel a little happiness, make sure they are on your phone so you can access them.

Happiness Challenge

Focus on solutions

Focus on solutions instead of problems. Everyone has challenges and some days these can get overwhelming. Stopping your negative thoughts doesn’t mean ignoring your issues, some things can’t be ignored.

Instead, recognize that there are things in your life that need to be addressed and focus on resolving them, rather than worrying about them. Whether it’s only one problem or whether you have a few that have built up get things written down in black and white.

If you don’t know where to start, try Googling your issue and see what suggestions come up, it might give you ideas you hadn’t thought of. You might have to find some support to help you deal with things and it might help you with that too. Don’t discount friends and family who might be able to advise or at the very least, support you.

So for 30 days, give up worrying and focus on solving. Your life will improve dramatically and so will your attitude.

30 Daily Tasks

Create a list of 30 things you can do over the 30 days. Have something planned for each day for the next month. These can be little, or big things you can do that will increase your happiness.

A few examples include:

  • Calling your college roommate.
  • Meeting an old friend for lunch.
  • Trying a new restaurant.
  • Reading an inspiring book.
  • Watching your favorite movie.
  • Getting out in the fresh air for a daily walk.

These can be work related or personal things. Add things onto your list that you would like to do but you’ve been putting off, whether it’s just because you haven’t made time for it or because it’s out of your comfort zone.
Once you start completing these small tasks you will find it motivating ticking them off your list and this will also contribute to a more positive outlook as the days go by.

Summary

Happiness doesn’t have to be elusive. In our endeavour to find happiness, we often focus on the wrong things and ignore the right things. We have too many negative thoughts and spend too much time dwelling on the past and worrying about the future, training ourselves to be unhappy.

Wouldn’t you rather make the effort to train yourself to be happy?
You can do this! Try this 30 Day Happiness Challenge and prove it to yourself. You will create positive change and a happy life and it will only take a month!

Like most people I was interested in improving my lot in life. After watching "The Secret" I was hooked on finding out more and I want to share my findings with as many people as possible. "To give is to receive" so pass it forward.
